Abstract

Analyzing social and economic equity across our transit networks is often left as an afterthought in today’s transit planning process. Title VI service equity analysis is critical to ensuring equitable transit access throughout communities, not to mention a federal requirement. However, the actual mechanics of the analysis are confusing, time-consuming, and inconsistent across agencies. What if service equity analysis were streamlined, efficient, and easy to understand?

Built on research with over 100+ agencies over the past two years, Remix has developed an approach to service equity analysis that allows users to visually develop scenarios and quickly identify the differences. This type of analysis can be done quickly, transparently, and with a consistent methodology across agencies. In this session, we’ll share how we developed our new Title VI methodology with best practices from a wide range of cities, how it sharpens the focus of the analysis, and how it reduces the time needed to conduct the analysis itself.
